quick walk down saville row on monday.
Yesterday in london me and ben went for a stroll down New Bond Street and Louis Vuitton had amazing window displays.
Went to a preview screening of iLL Manors last night in London, I feel very privileged to have seen it so early. Written and directed on by Ben Drew (Plan B), this is first feature he has written and directed himself and as you expect it doesn’t hold back. The film is everything you hope from it and more, the choice of camera work is inspired and he makes what is a very dark subject look beautiful. The story is incredibly well woven, you see 6 stories inter-weave in an almost Pulp Fiction way; everything you see in each story directly effects another story or character. Another element to the film is the way Ben guides you through the film using raps that condense complex back stories into a matter of minutes. This film is incredible and looks like it has been made by a director with a lot more experience, all I can say is I can’t wait to see the next one. As well as the film there was a Q&A with Ben himself which was amazing. He explained how they had so issues with funding etc with the film and how much he had to learn along the way. What was also interesting was that he was talking about how they did a load of re-shooting in january and some of the scenes they reshot were some of the best in the film. IN SHORT GO SEE THIS FILM.

Here is the first issue of Gosling and Booker the new internet comic following the lives of our two hero’s: acting legend Ryan Gosling and Newark Mayor Corey Booker. This comic spawns from two heroic acts from both parties, the first being when Gosling saved a women from being run down by a taxi in central New York, the second being when Booker ran into his neighbours burning house to rescue her from the flames.
Mike Drucker and Sean Crespo are writing this masterpiece with artist Corey Pandolph doing the illustration for it. I hope this lasts because Spiderman can suck it if Gosling gets a comic book.
The new identity for the new basketball team the Brooklyn Nets was launched a few weeks back and has reportedly been designed by part-owner and king of the world, Jay-Z. It has come under a lot of stick from a lot of people particularly in the design world but I’m not sure why because it seems to fit the Nets so perfectly. When seeing it applied to the apparel and stadium it really does look the part. However a week ago i saw Lance Wyman (designer of the Mexico 68 Olympics) speak and he had pitched for this identity and his take on the logo was truly amazing. He had incorporated the big blocky Brooklyn text then used a chainlink fence within the lettering. Unfortunately I can’t find a picture of it to show you but trust me it’s pretty pretty good.
